Supporting Underserved Students in a Crisis Online

Supporting Underserved Students in a Crisis
During the Covid-19 pandemic, it’s more important than ever for colleges to support their underserved students in the classroom and beyond. As Vimal Patel, a Chronicle senior reporter, has noted, colleges have opened their doors to an increasing number of first-gen and low-income students. “The burden the pandemic is placing on those students,” he reports, “has exposed the staggering class divides that have always existed in higher education.”

As the world adapts to a virtual way of life and prepares for an uncertain future, higher ed is tasked with the responsibility of ensuring learning for all students. However, resources that were once relied upon by many students are now less available as the public-health crisis plays out.

Register now for this virtual forum on Thursday, July 9, as Vimal Patel and a panel of campus leaders discuss the disparities students face in the midst of social distancing and remote learning, and what resources are available that colleges can use to support them.

Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and receive live advice during this session.
